He continued his passion for dentistry and furthered his education, becoming a Diplomate of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and Diplomate of the International Dental Implant Association, as well as a board member and editor of Illinois and Chicago Academy of General Dentistry, and a fellow at American Academy of General Dentistry.  

He is a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry, and an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID). Dr. Akhikar is also a Diplomate with the International College of implant dentistry

 As a clinical instructor, he has helped train hundreds of dentists and shared his knowledge and experience with his colleagues to better serve the community. He is an active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, and Illinois State Dental Association. He is also a recipient of several awards, such as the 2009, 2010, and 2011 American Top Dentist Awards. As well as, the 2015 Top 100 Health Professional Award, and the 2016 American Best Dentist Award by National Consumer Advisory Board.

Dr. Akhikar strongly feels that there is no greater reward than improving the quality of someone’s life, and helping them feel confident and happy with their healthy smile.
